Has The Bank Got Your Balls?
All men are liars wrote a great posting on mortgages and how it keeps us in place, preventing us from doing anything risky or adventurous. It is so true. I had to check below. Yes, I’ve still got both my testicles but it sometimes feels like their in the bank vault. As a rich guy once said; “The greatest benefit of being rich is the freedom to do what I want. I don’t have to ask anyone for permission.” That’s not me. Debt has got me by the balls and I can only hope for freedom when I’m old and my mortgages are paid.
Btw, check out the image (click on it to see it larger) of Sam de Brito’s posting. Notice that huge ad for a home loan? :)
“Our system has one outstanding way of holding men in place - it’s called a mortgage,” says Australian author and psychologist, Steve Biddulph.
“When you go for that vital interview at the bank you walk out with a a hundred thousand dollars*. It’s a miracle, but something else happens, something they don’t tell you about. You leave a testicle behind!
“The bank manager keeps it in a jar in his safe, along with all the others! If ever in your life you get the urge to do something risky, exciting, different or adventurous, chances are you will not because you don’t have the balls to do it! (Italics are the authors’)”
* I can only imagine what Biddulph thinks of men taking out four, five and six hundred thousand dollar mortgages. That’s both testicles, your tackle and one bum cheek - goooone.
