Messed up wedding becomes rock opera
Two years ago a troubled Duluth bride left the groom without a word and fled to New Mexico before the wedding, and then made up a story about being kidnapped and sexually assaulted. Poor guy. And if that’s not enough, now their story will be told over and over and over again - as a rock opera.
The theater’s owner promises to not make fun of the bride and groom. “The story is more about the city and the tenacity and camaraderie of its citizens,” says Mark Pitt, owner of Red Clay Theatre and Arts Center. After all, they did a massiv search for the lost bride only to find that she had lied. The rock opera story will be about how the community “came together and bonded over the experience”, says CentreDaily.com.
The runaway bride was sentenced to two years’ probation and performed community service that included mowing the lawns at public buildings. The engaged couple later ended their engagement and filed lawsuits against each other, which were dropped last month.
