Ten commandments for Relationships
Rules are good. Even if you bend and stretch them, rules define your boundaries and keep you in line. If you’ve found your woman and want to be faithful, it’s crucial that you establish some ground rules. Sure, let’s call them commandments, like this minister did.
Ed Young wrote Ten Commandments of Purity to make sure that he’d never get out of line. These commandments are designed to keep him away from temptations and maintain his love and respect for his wife.
I like them, especially the fourth: You shall not take the covenant of marriage in vain by apathy. Make sure you include that one when you write your own commandments. Personally I’ve skipped commandment five, six and seven, because they are so strict. The important thing is that you know yourself and how far you can be trusted, and set up a fence around the danger zones.
Ten Commandments of Purity
1. You shall have no other human relationships before your woman, including the kids.
2. Remember the date night and keep it holy.
3. Honor your woman on anniversaries and special days so that you may live long in the land the Lord has given you.
4. You shall not take the covenant of marriage in vain by apathy.
5. You shall not ride in a car or eat in a restaurant alone with a member of the opposite sex.
6. You shall not travel alone.
7. You shall not counsel a woman with the doors closed.
8. You shall not share the details of our marriage with others.
9. You shall not watch, read, or expose yourself to sexual explicit shows, books, DVDs, etc.
10. You shall remember the implications of breaking this covenant and commandment before God.

[…] Good Girl Bad Boy found a metal plate at a garage sale, entitled “The Rules”. Somone has written sixteen rules for interactions between men and Women. Though the rules are meant to be funny, I hope, and almost made me smile, one rule is painfully true; Rule #3 - No Male can possibly know all the rules. 1. The Female always makes THE RULES. 2. THE RULES are subject to change without notice. 3. No Male can possibly know all THE RULES. 4. If the Female suspects the Male knows all THE RULES, she must immediately change some of THE RULES. 5. The Female is never wrong. 6. If it appears the Female is wrong, it is because of a flagrant misunderstanding caused by something the Male did or said wrong. 7. If Rule #6 applies, the Male must apologize immediately for causing the misunderstanding. 8. The Female can change her mind at any time. 9. The Male must never change his mind without the express written consent of The Female. 10. The Female has every right to be angry or upset at any time. 11. The Male must remain calm at all times, unless the Female wants him to be angry or upset. 12. The Female must, under no circumstances, let the Male know whether she wants him to be angry or upset. 13. The Male is expected to read the mind of the Female at all times. 14. At all times, what is important is what the Female meant, not what she said. 15. If the Male doesn’t abide by THE RULES, it is because he can’t take the heat, lacks backbone, and is a wimp. 16. If the Male, at any time, believes he is right, he must refer to Rule #5. […]
