When someone lies to you, they've shown you that you mean absolutely nothing to them. They have no respect for you or any regard for your feelings. They've shown that they are capable of and willing to deceive you at any cost. While the truth may hurt, deeply, as the twinges of pain begin to fade, at least the person cared enough to be honest. That's a whole lot easier to deal with than knowing you weren't significant enough to know the truth. I think, and I’m pretty sure about this, that i always prefer the truth, no matter how painful.
