Chose friends over marriage
One out of ten men have only their wife to talk to for important matters and Stephanie Coontz at nytimes.com says that the number has doubled since the eighties. Poor guys. Good it isn’t us, right? Wrong. This is a trend that affects us all and it confirms what best men have been complaining about since the dawn of marriage; that the groom loses touch with his friends after the wedding. It just ain’t right. After all, buddies are more important than your wife.
Yes, they are:
1. Buddies are your steam valve. If you have friends you can talk to, everyday marital problems don’t grow big and ugly.
2. Buddies are your backup. If things go really wrong in your marriage, family or life, good friends will still be there for you.
3. Buddies are abundant. You can have as many friends as you want, while the number of spouses and relatives are constant.
4. Buddies are specialists. You can have different friends for different needs; like sports, drinking, deep thoughts and line dancing.
4. Buddies are replaceable. You can always make new friends if you lose touch or screw up a friendship.
