Why we’re not equal

Men and women are not equally equipped. We never were. We should have equal worth, of course, but somewhere down the line we managed to turn equal rights into equality in every aspect. Yeah, yeah you’ve heard it before, but now it comes from Dr. Marianne Legato, founder of the Partnership for Gender-Specific Medicine at Columbia University. She claims that we are different right down to the individual brain cells. Here’s a few points that shows how we’re not the same.

Women remember things better, men are better at reading maps.

[...] Film maker Mark Cousins says he loves to hang out with Women because they have a “broadness of vision“. When a man and a woman enters a party, she sweeps the room with her eyes noting everything. He scans for interesting objects like beautiful Women, friends and the bar. What I don’t like, is when someone, like Cousins, says that one thing is better than the other. “If men are really honest, I suspect a lot would choose to be Women if they could.” Speak for yourself, Mark! I think Women are great too, and I love being a man so I can enjoy their company as a man. In my opinion Women are widescreen, and men are more like tunnel vision. The implication is that female behaviour doesn’t confound me because it takes everything in. I have a friend I went out drinking with for two years - and then he mentioned his wife. I didn’t know he was married. That is such a male thing. With a woman you get the whole picture. My favourite novelist is George Eliot, and the reason I love her so much is because at the beginning of Daniel Deronda, I feel I know everything that’s happening in that room. There’s a curiosity about the world. It’s the widescreen thing again, the broadness of vision. Peripheral vision really excites me. If you’re sitting in a room with lots of Women, you won’t be left out. [...]
