So the Man of Steel has gone soft. In “Superman Returns” the super hero is reduced to a sensitive ex-boyfriend struggling to get his woman back and find his place on earch. What?s the world coming to?


?This is a movie about what happens when old boyfriends come back into your life. I call it my first chick flick,? says director Bryan Singer. ?Even if you’re the strongest man in the world, if the woman you love has found someone else who she’s nearly married to and who’s not a bad guy, what is your place in that woman’s life??

Superman Returns follows the events of Superman II, kind of. Superman (Brandon Routh) returns to earth after years of space searching looking for other Krypton survivors. He returns to the Daily Planet as Clark Kent, only to find that Lois Land has a child and is engaged to another man, and that the world that has learned to live without a super hero.

In not so many words: This not an action movie. As Warner Brothers say: ?Superman Returns tells an intimate story of one man?s unattainable love and struggle to belong against a backdrop of vast scope and scale, set in a modern-day Metropolis.

Still, I don?t think this movie will give us men any great or even half good advice on handling or living with women. It?s just too obvious that the film makers want to reach a bigger audience by appealing to the feminine part of the population.

The only comfort for us guys is that this mushy soup also contains the super villain Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey), who is even more determined to eliminate his number one enemy. Besides, we get to see a lot of the beautiful Kate Bosworth.
